The Centre for Creativity presents an online catalogue of selected Slovenian gifts under the MADE IN SLOVENIA brand.
The national Made in Slovenia brand, managed by the Center for Creativity at the Museum of Architecture and Design (CzK/MAO), is dedicated to the systematic identification, promotion, and international presentation of Slovenian design. Its mission is to connect creators, companies, and institutions, while strengthening the recognition of Slovenian design as a significant cultural and economic asset both at home and abroad.
The brand emerged from long-standing efforts to systematically promote Slovenian design, ranging from the 2011 Silent Revolutions exhibition to the international showcases organized by the Center for Creativity. In 2019, we established the Made in Slovenia brand to select and promote Slovenian design achievements.
The brand was established to regularly present contemporary Slovenian design at key global design events, such as Milan Design Week and various trade fairs, as well as regional design events like the Vienna and Zagreb Design Weeks. The first exhibition, We Are Open!, which was successfully presented at Milan Design Week 2019, was followed by many more international exhibitions. One of the most notable was the modular exhibition The Future of Living, created for Slovenia's Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2021, which spent nearly two years showcasing over 80 Slovenian creators in 32 locations worldwide. This was followed by exhibitions featuring selections of products that represent diverse design practices, from product design and craftsmanship to community-based practices and systems. At the initiative of the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, and other partners who identified a need for a range of products suitable as official, corporate, and protocol gifts for various occasions—and which represent Slovenia as an ambassador of good design—the Selection of Slovenian Gifts was created in 2024.

The Made in Slovenia Mark of Excellence is awarded to products distinguished by high design quality, innovation, sustainability, and predominantly Slovenian manufacturing. The selection process takes place through public calls and expert evaluation based on specific criteria, with the mark serving as a reference of excellence and a catalyst for the development of high-quality domestic production.
The Selection of Slovenian Gifts brings together products suitable for casual, corporate, or protocol gifts. This thoughtful collection bridges Slovenian heritage with contemporary design; it is available in larger quantities and presents Slovenia as a country of creativity, quality, and sustainability.
Exhibitions are a key method for the internationalization and promotion of Slovenian design. Since 2019, the Center for Creativity has presented over 140 designers, architects, and other creators in more than 60 exhibitions worldwide, strengthening the recognition of Slovenian design and creating new international opportunities through curated national showcases.
In addition to the Mark of Excellence, the Center for Creativity organizes other selections that together form the broader Made in Slovenia collection. This includes products and creators from the Fashion Incubator and Creative Incubators, selected recipients of CzK public tenders, and projects chosen through open calls. These selections are curated by expert committees and together provide a diverse overview of contemporary Slovenian design.
Stories are editorial features covering various design topics, creators, and products. They present the reflections, questions, inspirations, and processes that define contemporary Slovenian design and place it within a broader cultural, social, and economic context.
