Blaž Vurnik
Dr Blaž Vurnik is a historian, contemporary history curator and head of the curatorial department at the City Museum of Ljubljana (Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, MGML). His academic monograph Between Marx and Punk: the Role of the Socialist Youth Union of Slovenia in the Democratisation of Slovenia was published in 2005, and he has also contributed articles on contemporary history to the MGML book project History of Ljubljana. In 2015, he was awarded a prize by ICOM Slovenia for his project Hidden Children of the Second World War. As part of this project, he prepared the script for the documentary film Illegals - Hidden Children of Occupied Ljubljana (co-production of MGML and the Slovenian national broadcaster RTV SLO). He is the author of several major exhibitions, most notably New Era is Coming! Industry, Labour, Capital, held at the City Museum of Ljubljana in 2016/17, and a comprehensive exhibition on Ivan Cankar in 2021, commemorating the centenary of Cankar's death.
