The Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana (MGML) is the largest public institution established by the Municipality of Ljubljana at the end of 2008 through the merger of the City Museum of Ljubljana and the City Gallery of Ljubljana. The MGML presents a rich movable heritage and is responsible for the presentation of contemporary domestic and foreign visual arts. The MGML's dynamic, contemporary programme ensures consistent engagement with domestic and international visitors, promotes the collections and presents a contemporary perspective on the rich visual arts scene in our city.
Since 2010, the MGML has been responsible for the management of the Plečnik House and the Tobačna 001 Cultural Centre, which has its own studio for artists in residence. The MGML currently comprises 11 units: the City Museum of Ljubljana, the City Gallery of Ljubljana, the Vžigalica Gallery, the Jakopič Gallery, the Bežigrad Galleries 1 and 2, the Plečnik House, the Emona Archaeological Park, the Tobačna 001 Cultural Centre, the Ivan Cankar Memorial Room and the Župančič Memorial Collection.
