Niko Kralj
Niko Kralj is one of the most important European industrial designers of the second half of the 20th century. A pioneer of Slovenian and Yugoslav industrial design, he entered the world's collective consciousness with the Rex, 4455, Mosquito and Lupina chairs, the first two of which are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He designed numerous products for the furniture industry and other everyday objects. He registered a total of 118 patents and designs and received more than 100 major professional awards at home and abroad for his outstanding work. He held the role of an associate university professor, served as member of international juries and expert panels, and acted as an expert for the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). He collaborated with world-famous designers such as Charles and Ray Eames, Richard Buckminster Fuller, Olaf Pira and Ferdinand Kramer. Among his contributions is also the Konstrukta wooden construction toy, which he designed in 1976.
