Locally sourced biodegradable straw made from dry grain stalks.
Made from triticale stalks, the Natural Straw is a sustainable, functional alternative to plastic straws. Unlike paper straws, it does not get soggy when used. The triticale used for the straws is produced locally; the straws are entirely handmade and can be composted after use. Straw production also generates some byproducts – the ears become animal feed, and irregular or short stalk remnants are used by the author to make ornaments, donate them to schools for creative workshops, or simply to mulch her garden.
