Despite its small size and simplicity, Vinko is a product that embodies the values of which Slovenia is proud. Green and creative, it reflects the country's cultural, economic, environmental, tourist and culinary landscape, as well as its overall cultural framework. Wine is an important part of our culinary and cultural identity, and viticulture is an important industry closely linked to tourism. In addition to wine production, the textile and sewing industry also flourished in Slovenia in the past. Vinko is a tribute to both industries, while at the same time drawing attention to the richness of the Slovenian culinary landscape.
Vinko is a sustainable alternative to the disposable towels often used to wipe wine drops from wine bottles. The product is hand sewn in Anselma, Ljubljana, from scraps of old cloth. The fabric is collected in Slovenia from manufacturers' waste, which makes it even more sustainable - not a single kilometre has been travelled or a single litre of water or dye consumed in its production.
The design of the product follows its function and offers a wide choice of materials, colours, patterns and textures of the fabric. The product is small and light. The packaging, made in an environmentally friendly way from recycled cardboard, is also part of Vinko's identity.
