Flowe Water Bottle

The Flowe wicker bottles, with willow wickerwork to protect the glass, are made in collaboration with Slovenian wicker artisans who still have this rare skill. The wickerwork is handmade with great attention to detail. It takes four hours of work to weave a single bottle. Willow is a highly sustainable, renewable resource; in addition to its extremely flexible branches, this tree species is prized for its rapid growth, which can reach up to 10 cm per day in the first few years. Only overgrown branches are used for weaving. The wicker can be composted at the end of its life and the soda-lime glass bottle is easily recycled.

Flowe's packaging, leaflet and label use unbleached paper made from invasive, non-native plants such as Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica) and Robinia pseudoacacia. These non-native species have found their way into Slovenia's natural environment, where they spread rapidly, outcompeting native species, altering ecosystems and causing economic damage, and are therefore regularly removed.
