The Flow water glass and bottle set is crafted from ultra-thin hand-blown glass, inspired by the organic shapes.
The Flow bottle and glass set was designed by observing the Soča River and the way light behaves in water, creating a similar effect to that of glass. The wavy organic form of the set is suggestive of the lively flow of the water. The feeling of undulating water is captured in the delicate translucency of very thin blown glass. The initial concept, which followed the lines of a drop creeping down a leaf and the ripples of the Soča, prompted the artist to write the following text:
My body is 75% water. It undulates with every inhale and exhale. My movement and my laughter need water to power this incredible structure.
Flow ...
In the morning light, a dewdrop slides down a leaf towards the fragrant soil. The whole world is in it.
Flow ... Flowflowflowflow ... Flow ...
My bottle and my glass of water on my workbench. It makes my thoughts flow.
My bottle and my glass of water at lunch. The light in it makes me smile.
My bottle and my glass of water by my bed. It rocks me and carries me through my dreams.
My body is 75% water and all light.
Flow.
The sensation of drinking water from a hand-blown glass cannot be compared to drinking from an industrially produced glass with a thicker rim. The bottle and glass are designed for everyday use in both business and domestic environments. The shape and size of the glass and bottle follow ergonomic principles, allowing for a good grip and flow of water, and the rim of the glass sits correctly on the lips.
The Flow water set was designed in 2009, when it was awarded the Red Dot Honourable Mention 2009. The first batch was produced in 2010 and then in 2014. In 2019, out of 215 entries in the design section, the set was selected as one of the five products exhibited at the Arte Laguna Prize 2019 competition at the Arsenale in Venice. It has also been selected several times as a protocol gift. Glass is an infinitely recyclable material; the products are sustainable and environmentally friendly and do not change the water’s quality or its smell or taste.
The product is distinctive and original, and the technology is used to its fullest potential in terms of combining traditional and modern methods. The art of hand-blown glass has a long and rich tradition in Slovenia, but unfortunately, this is being lost. The artist employs a contemporary design approach to preserve and build on centuries-old knowledge and skills in hand-blowing and traditional glass cutting, translating them into a modern language. Glass is an infinitely recyclable material, and the products are sustainable and environmentally friendly.
The handmade packaging for one set protects the product perfectly during transport. Its shape makes the product resistant to breakage, despite the material used. The packaging also contains a leaflet presenting the contents and a story about the product and the author. The leaflet and the packaging are customizable. Upon customer request, quantities of more than 200 pieces for a single customer can be made in 90 days. Glesia has been a reliable partner in the field of corporate gifts for 20 years.
