Konstrukta is a wooden construction toy that enables users to build their own world.
The Konstrukta toy, made of wooden modules, allows children to build their own world of animals, buildings, vehicles or fantasy objects. The building blocks can be assembled into different shapes by sliding the wooden modules through each other and attaching them with connectors of the appropriate length. Warm and pleasant to the touch, the toy has been designed to develop logical thinking, attention and perseverance. The coordinated movement of the hands and eyes encourages the development of fine motor skills and spatial perception. It offers countless assembly possibilities, stimulating creative thinking, problem solving and learning of technical principles. The product is convenient for everyday use, not only for children but also for adults, thus connecting several generations. It is one of the few toys without sharp edges and without oil or varnish coatings.
The renowned Slovenian architect Niko Kralj has made a significant impact on Slovenian design and our homes with a number of enduring furniture pieces. In 1976, he designed the Konstrukta toy with the intention of encouraging young people to develop technical thinking skills. However, the production never took off. The toy has now been updated, and includes connectors made of recyclable plastic. In December 2022, the product was launched on the market as a result of a collaboration between the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO), the Festival lesa cooperative and craftsmen from the Kočevje-Ribnica region. The product is manufactured entirely in the Kočevje-Ribnica region. The machinery for the production of the wooden elements was purchased specifically for this purpose. The elements are manufactured in Sodražica, a town with a long history of woodenware production.
The preservation of cultural heritage is of great importance, especially when it is made from high-quality local materials and with expertise that has made a significant impact in the field of global industrial design. The product demonstrates sustainability, functionality and cultural heritage, and also has educational applications.

PRODUCER
Festival lesa was established in 2013 with the objective of advancing new knowledge, innovative applications of wood and a reimagined perspective of wood as a valuable raw material, rather than a mere material in itself.
